Chapter 75: Silver wing stands

Chapter 75

Silver Wing hovered silently above the battlefield, his gleaming wings outstretched like a divine sentinel. Though he had yet to join the fray, his usual calm expression was etched with a deep frown. Like Kael, he had come to a troubling conclusion—the number of beasts was not dwindling, but increasing at an alarming rate despite their efforts.

"I have to join the battle," he muttered, his voice low but resolute.

Without hesitation, he reached behind and plucked out two of his own feathers. They shimmered in the light, elongating and morphing before his eyes until, within moments, he held two radiant silver swords. Then, with a burst of speed, he dove straight into the horde below.

The first beast in his path was an elephant-like monster with bladed tusks. It charged, roaring, but Silver Wing twisted mid-air, narrowly evading the tusks, and with a single fluid slash, severed them. Maintaining his momentum, he followed through and cleaved the beast’s neck, killing it instantly.

With precision and speed, Silver Wing cut a path through the battlefield. Beast after beast fell before his silver blades, their hulking forms crumpling in his wake. The morale of the guild surged. Their leader had joined the battle—and it showed. Cheers erupted as his presence galvanized the warriors around him.

Yet Silver Wing wasn’t the only one shining on the battlefield.

On the northern flank, the bald-headed second-in-command waded through enemies with fists that generated shockwaves. Each punch caused an eruption—small or massive depending on how much energy he released. Beasts were flung back, many fatally injured, others left helpless for the guild members to finish off. Some didn’t even get a second chance—one punch was enough to end them.

Elsewhere, a young woman with radiant black hair danced between monsters with a long, curling blade—clearly a high-grade power weapon. Her attack speed was blistering. By the time a beast registered her presence, it had already been cut down. She flowed from one target to the next like a shadow in motion, giving those around her ample chances to strike.

Among the ranged fighters stood a man with a single eye, the other covered by a sleek black patch. He raised a specialized bow, condensing energy into three arrows at once. With uncanny efficiency, he loosed them—each found its mark, dropping three targets simultaneously. He fired again, ten times faster than most other ranged heroes. His contribution was unmatched—an elite among the Silver Guild and their most skilled archer. With deadly precision and unerring instinct, he supported his comrades across the field.

Another section of the battlefield trembled beneath the steps of the last elite. In each hand, he held a whip, both coiling like serpents. His eyes snapped open, and he burst into motion. The whips lashed out—fast, ruthless. A beast tried to block, but the weapon sliced through it like paper. Ducking an incoming claw, he retaliated with a clean strike, severing the monster’s head with ease.

Meanwhile, Kael and his two companions carved a path through the chaos. Kael was the vanguard, his fists glowing with condensed energy. He struck the beast before him, causing it to stagger and growl in pain. It retaliated with a sweeping tail attack—but Kael’s friend, the team’s shield, stepped forward. His palm glowed as he released a burst of force, repelling the attack. From the side, their third member hurled a blazing spear, striking the beast between the eyes. It collapsed instantly.

Kael nodded. The three of them balanced each other perfectly—strength, defense, and offense in harmony. With renewed determination, they charged deeper into the swarm.

High above, Silver Wing had felled dozens of beasts, and it seemed—finally—that their numbers were beginning to thin. He allowed himself a small smile as he scanned the battlefield, witnessing victory take form.

But his smile quickly vanished.

A jagged rock whistled through the air toward him. He twisted, barely dodging the projectile. As it struck the ground behind him, a mini-crater exploded into existence.

Silver Wing’s eyes widened.

That wasn’t a random strike.

If it had hit him, even with his power... it could’ve been fatal.

Silver Wing glanced around, his sharp gaze scanning the battlefield.

A strange whistling sound pierced through the air. Moments later, the impact followed—deadly black projectiles raining down like jagged meteors. Screams echoed as several guild members were struck. Some perished instantly; only the swiftest managed to escape with minor injuries.

His eyes narrowed. Above them hovered the source of the carnage: a massive, obsidian-feathered bird. From its gnarled beak protruded a jagged black horn, pulsing with unstable energy. The monster opened its mouth again, launching another volley of deadly rock shards.

"That thing’s a problem... and I need to solve it—fast," Silver Wing muttered.

With a burst of speed, he ascended toward the threat, his silver wings trailing light as he charged.

Elsewhere, deep within the containment cells beneath the guild...

Han and the others sat in silence, the distant thunder of battle shaking the walls. The sounds of chaos were growing louder, but no one had come to release them.

"Shouldn’t we just break out already?" Aiden asked—again. It was the tenth time.

Han shook his head, eyes closed, arms crossed. "No. Not yet."

He had a hunch. Whatever was happening outside... it wasn’t just a random attack. It had the stench of the Cursed Organization’s tactics all over it. If so, then he wanted the Silver Guild to see the true scale of the threat themselves. Let them taste the consequences of their arrogance.

But part of him was burning with the desire to act. He wanted to crush the Cursed Organization with his own hands.

"Just a little longer," Han muttered, a bitter smirk tugging at his lips. "I wonder how those greedy mayors are handling it."

At the top floor of the guild headquarters...

The so-called leaders of the city stood behind a shattered pane of reinforced glass, staring in horror at the chaos below. One of the mayors flinched as a corpse crashed through the ceiling with such force it embedded itself in the marble floor.

"W-What are our chances of surviving this?" one asked, his voice trembling.

"Maybe... twenty percent?" another replied grimly. "Let’s hope the guild can handle this in time."

"You might want to revise that number," a third mayor said, his tone hollow.

"What are you talking abou—"

He froze mid-sentence.

Their faces paled as they saw what the other man was looking at: five fur-covered, lizard-like beasts crawling through the broken upper windows, their claws scraping against the walls, eyes glowing with bloodlust.

---

Back on the battlefield...

The giant obsidian bird screeched, staggering under Silver Wing’s relentless assault. Its body was riddled with gashes, feathers scorched and torn. Silver Wing, now wielding a massive silver blade formed from his wings, poured his energy into it. The blade shimmered, vibrating with immense force.

With a roar, he began spinning like a cyclone, his energy spiraling outward in a deadly vortex. In a blink, he crashed into the bird’s head, cleaving it clean off. The monstrous creature tumbled lifeless to the ground.

Silver Wing landed, breathing heavily, but before he could relax—WHAM!

A hammer slammed into his raised sword, the sheer force of the blow sending him flying across the battlefield. He twisted midair, barely regaining control. Digging his sword into the ground, he skidded back, leaving a deep trench before finally stopping.

His eyes snapped to the direction of the strike.

A man stood there, tall and menacing, catching the second hammer with one hand. His long black hair flowed from beneath a red, jagged-edged armor. He radiated confidence—and bloodlust.

The man smiled wickedly. freēwēbnovel.com

"For this mission to succeed," he said calmly, "the troublesome ones must be eliminated."

He slammed both hammers together, sparks erupting from the impact.

"Starting with the guild leader himself."
