Chapter 31: Elliot Clark vs John Clark (2)

Elliot struck John's head to keep him disoriented and used his footwork to move around him, attacking him effectively at every opportunity. Although John tried to defend himself, Elliot's agility was better than his.

While Elliot used his stats to move and disorient him, John was trying to attack nimbly with his sword, even though he was disoriented.

Surprisingly, Elliot had much more combat experience than John in this regard, but that was also because Elliot knew most of his attacks, so he couldn't be fooled so easily.

His continuous attacks were wearing him down, but John quickly fell into a highly vulnerable state.

Seeing it that way raised the rage in Elliot's heart. He wanted revenge, and now was the perfect opportunity. Maybe he couldn't kill him, but his eyes flashed with a frenzy of evil emotions that took hold of his mind.

"If I cripple you... The pain my mother and sister suffered will surely be alleviated, in another timeline... If I can just cripple you, you bastard..." he growled softly. Each word was surrounded by intense fury, an immeasurable hatred that seemed to want to devour John from head to toe.

This, along with Elliot's expression and the powerful attack he was about to launch, made John tremble with fear. "FATHER!" He couldn't help but scream as he tried to crawl backwards.

He was completely disoriented from the numerous blows to his head.

He felt fear. The fear of death. Or worse...

Despite that, Elliot didn't stop. He continued his attack, putting so much of his strength into his arms that his muscles suddenly bulged, making him look menacing.

And soon that powerful fist, which made John Clark tremble, touched his body...

Or so he hoped.

Suddenly, a hand appeared between them and held his fist firmly. His fist remained there, unable to advance another inch, before being pushed back.

Elliot managed to stagger enough to avoid falling, but he was a little dizzy because his power seemed to hit a wall before receiving a tremendous recoil.

'Alexander Clark... Damn bastard, so you don't care about receiving the punishment of the system to stop something you caused.'

Elliot clutched his heart when he felt a twinge of pain. Some of his power had struck that area, which was surprising. It felt as if his own power had gone haywire and was trying to strike his heart.

This also caused him to vomit blood suddenly.

'I see, this bastard tried to kill me with the recoil...'

The recoil was guided inside his body toward his own heart.

Only a powerful Master could do that, and it was a way to kill someone without receiving certain penalties from the system, or at least minimizing them, since the person hurt themselves with their own power.

Alexander looked at John behind him and frowned.

'Much more powerful than I thought.' His hair stood on end, and he realized he had to kill him as soon as possible. 'It's a shame he didn't die from that recoil...'

He took a deep breath and made his son give up so that the system could determine the results, as he couldn't keep fighting. They couldn't keep embarrassing the Clark bloodline in front of a bastard like that and in front of so many people.

John didn't know why, but he couldn't properly move his energy and power. His strength hadn't been working right since Elliot had hit different parts of his body. These were lethal immobilization attacks, and he didn't expect Elliot to know them.

He felt his pride wounded. It was the first time he had lost a duel in the system, and he would lose it to Elliot, of all people!

"Shit..." His heart was bubbling with flames of blood, but he was forced to lower his head.

"I give up..."

[John Clark has surrendered.]

[Congratulations, Player Elliot Clark. You have won the Duel. Your rewards will be sent to your inventory...]

[Someone has entered the combat...]

[Identifying the meddler...]

[Veteran Player Alexander Clark has interfered in a combat between two 'Players' using the system rules]

[He will be penalized accordingly for his interruption.]

[...]

Elliot smiled, but the pain in his heart prevented him from rejoicing. He was forced to ignore them and turn away to go register, his hand on his heart.

'Next time you won't be so lucky, you damn traitors. I swear on my blood that I will kill you.' He clenched his teeth fiercely.

But he also knew that he was not currently in a position to complete his revenge.

John was more powerful than him in terms of pure strength and perhaps even faster than him, but he had very little resistance, which had doomed him.

After all, no matter how powerful he was, if he lacked resistance, he could die against someone who slightly outmatched him in combat. Because if he attacked at key points, he would quickly lose mobility, which would be a death sentence.

'I also need to invest more in resistance, but this time...' He touched his arm and put away what was there, smiling. "I have to thank that little book. A tool like that can't break so easily. Although I had to surround it with energy so it wouldn't burn my clothes, it was enough to withstand that attack, which allowed me to win."

Without looking back, he went to take his registration tests with palpable determination in his eyes. He had to become strong.

Due to his great strength and agility, the association believed him to be a Fighter type. Thanks to this, he was able to avoid revealing his summonings.

An hour later, he left the association with his new credential.

'After wishing for it for so many years, it seems that I have finally become an Awakened One.'

His smile was peaceful, and after taking some potions to try to ease his pain, he walked to the area where weapons were sold, as he wanted to see how good the one he had earned was.

He was now at the Association of the Awakened, not at one of its branches scattered around the city. He was in the city's true center, so everything was close by.

He walked a few blocks until he reached an incredibly long four-story building where they sold weapons. Their classic logo was a huge shield with two crossed swords.

Upon entering, he was greeted by beautiful, clean hallways. On either side, different weapons were displayed in beautiful glass cases, but he wasn't interested in most of them. Instead, he went to talk to one of the attendees.

"Can I see the C-rank equipment?"

The man nodded, looking him up and down. "If you have an Awakened credential, I can take you there." He was respectful in his reply.

Elliot showed him his credentials and was then led to the place, while the respectful man began to show him the different weapons.
