Chapter 246: Never Forget

Chapter 246 - Never Forget

(Third Person POV)

[King's Landing]

"I think we should go to Dragonstone." Aemon said to Daella, "I believe it has been too long."

Daella looked at him, "A-Are you sure?"

They were in the Secret Gardens, spending time together. Aemon's daughters were off in the distance, sitting on a blanket and having some sweets with Aemma, Daella's daughter. The sun was shining on all of them as the entire sky was without clouds, allowing the sunlight to bathe the entire city.

Aemon nodded, "Yes." He said with a slight smile, "It is the right thing to do."

Daella tucked her hair behind her ear, "I see." She said, "I think....that is a wonderful idea. To have our girls there."

Aemon placed his hand on her lap, "Yes, despite everything.....we should focus on what we have." He said, "Let us go then."

She smiled at him, "Of course."

"Oh, here you are." Baelon said as he approached the two of them, "Alyssa and I have been looking for you.."

Alyssa was beside Baelon as they both stood in front of them, "Hello, Daella." She said, "I hope your day has been well."

Daella nodded, "It has." She said with a smile, "Spending time with my husband is a nice thing to do."

Aemon looked at Baelon, "Brother." He said, "I was just discussing with Daella that we should leave for Dragonstone."

"You're leaving?" Baelon raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure that's wise? With everything that has been going on, we should stick together."

"I believe the conflict has died down." Aemon told him as he looked down, "The Vale is occupied by the Duskguard but I believe everything is alright now."

"Still, for you to leave, Aemon.....that is not assuring." Alyssa said, "Anyways, Baelon, tell him."

"Tell me what?" Aemon raised an eyebrow

"We should marry our sons and your daughters." Baelon said, "Viserys with Rhaenys and Daemon with Rhaella."

Aemon blinked, "Oh." He said, "Well..."

"Aegon with Aemma." Alyssa looked at Daella with a smile, "Don't you think that is wonderful, Daella?"

Daella looked at her with surprise, "Y-You think so?"

"They're still young, but who knows?" Baelon shrugged, "Maybe we'd give them the freedom to choose and all....but your daughters will not need to marry some other lord."

Aemon nodded, "I understand..." He said, "The truth is, with everything going on, I never really thought of who I'd marry my girls to, but.....like you said, they are young, so it should not matter at this point."

Alyssa looked at him, "Brother, it is a good thing to think about things like these when in times of peril." she said, "We should look towards the future."

Aemon looked over at her daughters, seeing that Rhaenys was smiling and laughing with her sisters. Seeing her smile made Aemon forget about the pain he had ever endured. Not just that, he had suddenly remembered the offer Drakken once made him that he refused.

Daughters are ways of making political moves.

But Aemon did not want to leave his girls to such fates, so he'd be more than happy to accept Baelon's offer.

Aemon then looked at his brother, "Very well, brother." He said, "You and I are brothers, bound by more than just blood. Our lines should join together, after all."

Baelon smiled, "That's what I like to hear!" He said, "It is decided then!"

The two brothers hugged each other as they laughed about the decision while Daella smiled.

"Aemon!" a voice called over, "There is a letter for you!"

Aemon looked over to see Vaegon walking over with a letter in his hand.

"Vaegon." Aemon said, "What is it for?"

"I don't know." Vaegon said, "Strange writing, it says; 'Never Forget, Aemon Targaryen'."

"Never forget?" Baelon raised an eyebrow as Vaegon reached them, "What does that mean?"

"Like I'd know." Vaegon scowled, "I don't know what-"

He was cut off by blood spewing out of his mouth as he collapsed to his knees, his eyes becoming bloodshot as his entire body began to tremble violently.

"Vaegon!!" Aemon shouted as he crouched down, "What's wrong?!"

"W-Wha...." Vaegon covered his mouth, "Blood....? Poison....? I-"

More blood spewed out as he completely collapsed to the ground.

"Grab the Maester, Alyssa!" Baelon exclaimed,

"Vaegon, hang on!"

[Sharp Point]

Along the ramparts of the castle, several House Bar Emmon guards were doing their usual patrol as they looked over the side and towards the sea.

"What do you think is going to happen now?" a guard asked the other

"What do you mean?" the other asked

"House Drakkengard is consistently destroying armies in every conflict," the guard said, "And the Crown doesn't seem to try to resist. The Vale was ravaged, and I heard some city in Asshai was obliterated by Drakken, who is apparently a god."

"Bah, blasphemy." the other guard said, "We should not think about shit like that."

"Hey, the Duskguard is a real threat to the realm, I am just asking." He said, "what do you think will happen now? Everything seems to be calm now."

One of them looked up to the sky to see that dark clouds had suddenly appeared, but was not roused in the slightest by this.

"Well, so long as this castle is fine, we should not care." He said, "Lord Bar Emmon has not been called to war, so it doesn't matter."

"When it comes to it, do you think we'll die on the battlefield?" the other asked, "Those Duskguard guys seem to be a real threat. It is a wonder how the Crownlands have been untouched."

"Again, we should not worry about it now." The guard said, "It is only a nuisance to worry about shit like this, stop talking about it."

"Alright, alright." He said, "I mean....the Trinity is getting a lot of influence."

"Ah, it's a stupid religion. A fucking cult!" the other said, getting frustrated, "Listen, the Faith is-....do you feel a bit colder?"

"Hm?" He said, "Now that I think about it, it did get pretty chilly...."

They both felt how the wind began to pick up slightly and the temperature dropped slightly. For some reason, the two of them heard a strange hum from above them.

As they looked up, they saw that there were multiple bright lights in the dark clouds as swirling wind began to form in the air above them, covering an area large enough to fit the entirety of Sharp Point.

"W-What do you think that is...?" One asked, "That is very...unsettling...."

Then, there was a quick boom of thunder as massive beams of lightning shot straight down from the sky, striking at multiple points of the Castle. The beams were so fast that nobody was able to react to them; only the thunder was heard.

Within the next second, a bright flash covered the entire area, and the sound of a deafening explosion was heard as the entirety of Sharp Point was covered in multiple pillars of fire and smoke. The explosion caused massive shockwaves that ripped apart the ground even reaching the sea and causing massive waves to form.

On that day, Sharp Point was obliterated. freewёbnoνel.com
