Chapter 101 – Third Boss
"CLANG!!"
The ringing clash of metal echoed loudly as Dullahan’s massive spear struck my black chain. The force of the impact was so immense that the ground cracked beneath my feet, sending me flying several meters back, leaving a long drag mark across the black marble floor of the dungeon.
GRUAAHH!! His horse’s roar, a deep rumble mixed with the grating of bones, shattered the eerie silence of the 30th floor.
I landed with one knee bent, my body still trembling from the blow. My breath though I no longer truly needed air was forced out in an attempt to calm the surge of adrenaline in this undead body.
"He’s fast..." I muttered.
Dullahan didn’t pause. He attacked again. THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! The pounding of his horse’s hooves shook the ground as he charged like a missile of death.
I raised my hand. CLANK! My corrosive venomous chain shot out like a ravenous snake, coiling around his spear. But Dullahan twisted his body and yanked me toward him, then
BAM!! His iron palm smashed into my chest. My body was hurled toward the nearest stone pillar and crashed into it with a devastating noise.
KRASH!!
The pillar cracked. Stone dust filled the air.
I coughed softly, black blood dripping from the corner of my lips. But there was no time to dwell on the pain.
"Shadows piercing."
My body vanished in a flicker of dark mist...WHOOSH! and reappeared right behind him.
CRAACK! My claws morphed into corrosive blades, sharper than steel, slashing across the back of Dullahan’s armor.
But... CLINK! just sparks. His armor... barely scratched.
He turned his head. Even though it was detached, somehow I could still feel his body glaring at me.
"Normal attacks won’t cut it," I thought sharply. "In that case...."
"Chain Technique Form 1 – Binding"
My venomous chain glowed with a purplish hue, wrapped in an aura of fury. With lightning speed, I launched it and entangled his horse’s body. SLAAASH!
The Dullahan’s horse shrieked SKREEEEEHH!! its body slowly disintegrating under the corrosive poison. I struck Dullahan, sending him flying, and followed after him midair.
ZWAANG!! We exchanged blows midair. Claws clashing with spear.
CLANG! SHING! BAM! Clangs of metal, bursts of magic, and flares of aura collided like a death symphony.
In the final clash, I was thrown into the dungeon’s ceiling BOOM!! shattering a portion of it. Stones tumbled down, but I twisted midair and landed on one knee.
Dullahan descended gracefully, now without his horse. He stood tall on both feet, spear drawn back.
His dark aura surged.
WHOOMMMM!! The pressure radiating from his body was like a shockwave, causing the green torches lining the walls to flicker and nearly die out.
I clenched my fists. The wounds on my shoulder and waist began to close, thanks to my regenerative abilities.
I gave a faint smile.
"My turn."
I released a portion of my power.
"Death Aura."
A purple-black aura erupted from beneath my feet, crawling up my body. My long hair floated, my eyes glowing violet. My claws and chains radiated dense death energy. Shadowy wings unfurled from my back like the misty form of a death angel.
Dullahan paused momentarily. He realized... I wasn’t just any ordinary undead.
I raised my hand, and CLANK! CLANK! TING! three chains shot from the darkness of my back, hooking onto the dungeon ceiling, then pulled me toward Dullahan like a bullet.
The battle continued.
CLANG! CLINK! WHAAM!
Explosion after explosion shook the dungeon floor. Pillars crumbled. The ground cracked. Deathly aura filled the air.
Each swing of Dullahan’s spear unleashed a black wave WHOOOSH! erasing everything in its path. But I danced through the gaps, dodging, leaping, countering from unexpected angles.
"Netherwood Spell: Abyssal Spike!!" I rained down hundreds of sharp wooden spikes onto Dullahan.
KRAK-KRAK-KRAK!! Tiny explosions rang out as the spikes detonated on impact. A few pierced the gaps around his neck and shoulder, making him stagger.
Dullahan raised his spear high KZZZZH!!! black magic gathering at its tip, forming a massive shadow lance.
"Hell Lance..." his voice heavy and ominous.
He threw it.
SHRAAAAKKK!!!
The sound tore through the air like a thousand souls screaming at once.
I activated Shadows Piercing, instantly shifting behind him, but the explosion from the lance still rocked the entire dungeon.
KABOOOOOOMMMM!!!
The entire center of the 30th floor collapsed. The marble floor shattered into a gaping black pit. The walls trembled. Debris rained down.
I rolled across the floor, landing on one knee, my body bruised and battered but not done yet.
"...He really is a high-level boss."
But I couldn’t lose.
I saw him still standing, though his body was swaying.
I raised my hand.
Violet light began to gather around my chains and claws.
"If this isn’t enough to end it, I don’t deserve to be called Queen."
"Chain Technique Final Form – Unification + Nether Flame"
I stepped forward firmly.
Chains swirled like a storm, merging into one and then engulfed by nether fire.
Dullahan charged.
But I was faster.
Our bodies collided in a blazing explosion BOOOOMMM!!!
The explosion shook the entire dungeon, its shockwave obliterating the last remaining pillars. Dust and shards of stone filled the air, creating a deafening storm of ash.
For a few seconds, everything was silent. Still. No sound, only the lingering death aura that surged amidst the swirling dark smoke.
Then THUMP... A heavy sound echoed.
I emerged from the mist, walking slowly with steady breaths despite my torn body. My black dress was ripped, thick black blood dripping from my wounds. But my eyes still burned... a red flame full of resolve.
Behind me, Dullahan’s body stood rigid.
And then...
CRAAAACK...
A fracture split his iron helm. The headless body slowly lost its black aura, and pieces of its armor began falling off one by one.
BOOM...
The giant body finally collapsed. Its crash signaled the end of a brutal and earth-shaking battle.
I stood motionless, then finally dropped to the ground, mentally exhausted.
"That was intense... but also quite difficult and challenging. It’s been a while since I faced an enemy like that," I said, a hint of satisfaction in my voice as I savored the thrill of the battle.
My hand trembled as it touched the cold dungeon floor, but I didn’t complain. Instead, there was a strange sense of satisfaction swelling in my chest. I had enjoyed this fight.
Though my body was exhausted, my mind felt sharp. This wasn’t just a battle for survival it was a test. And I had passed.
The system began to hum softly in my ears, and a translucent glow appeared in front of my eyes, displaying the combat results.
But I didn’t look at it yet.
My eyes were still fixed on Dullahan’s body, now motionless forever. A formidable foe a reminder that this world still held dangers I had yet to conquer.
And that thought... thrilled me.
I took a slow breath even if only to fill the silence in the aftermath of the chaos.
"...Let’s see the rewards."
