Chapter 386 - 384: The Top 1
Nayoung stood back inside the ring, breathing hard but smiling with confidence. The dust had mostly settled now, and Yoora was standing across from her, calm and ready.
"I'm not done yet," Nayoung said, tightening her fists. "Let's try head-on!"
She rushed forward without tricks this time—no swirling dust, no circling. Just a straight dash toward Yoora with her full effort.
Yoora's eyes followed her carefully. As Nayoung got closer, she threw a fast punch aimed at Yoora's side. Yoora calmly raised her arm and blocked it with ease.
Another punch followed, and again Yoora blocked it, like it was nothing.
But then—Nayoung shifted her feet suddenly and twisted her body, aiming a low strike from a different angle. For a split second, Yoora's body turned the wrong way.
The strike didn't land, but Yoora was caught slightly off guard.
Surprised, Yoora reacted on instinct—and used more strength than she intended.
Her arm moved fast, and her palm struck Nayoung straight in the stomach with a hard thud.
"Ugh—!" Nayoung's breath escaped her chest as her body folded slightly, then she fell flat on the ground, coughing.
The whole place fell silent for a moment.
Nayoung lay on her back, hand over her stomach, coughing and laughing weakly. "Ow… Okay, okay, I lose…"
Yoora walked to Nayoung side, "Sorry Nayoung, I didn't mean to hit that hard."
Hannah ran in beside them, worry on her face. "You almost got her there! That move… you really surprised Yoora!"
Yoora gently helped Nayoung sit up. "What did you do?" she asked, still surprised.
Nayoung gave a tired but proud grin. "I watched how you move… every time you block, you shift your right foot just a little back. So I changed my angle fast, aimed where your arms wouldn't be ready."
Minseok, watching from outside the circle, looked impressed. "Whoa… so it was all planned?"
Nayoung nodded slowly, still holding her stomach. "Yeah. If I had just a bit more speed… maybe I could've hit her."
Yoora smiled and offered a hand to help her stand. "You did well. That was really close."
Nayoung stood up with her help, wobbling slightly. "Next time, I'll wear armor," she joked.
The group laughed, even Jinhyu smiled.
Seojun finally spoke, arms crossed. "Nayoung found a weak point through observation, even with less strength. That's a good lesson for everyone."
Hannah helped dust off Nayoung's clothes and added, "That was so cool. I didn't expect that from you!"
"Me neither," Minseok added, looking motivated. "I should try something like that…"
Jinhyu muttered, "Only if you don't end up like her, coughing on the floor."
Nayoung pointed at him playfully. "Hey! You try fighting Yoora without mana!"
Yoora chuckled and crossed her arms. "I guess I really don't need to cheat."
Seojun gave a small smile. "Rest for now, Nayoung. But good work."
She gave a thumbs-up. "Thanks, Professor."
Yoora crossed her arms, a playful smirk on her face as she looked around. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"So… who's next?"
Jinhyu casually raised a hand and waved it side to side. "Nah. You win, Yoora. I'm not getting in that circle."
Hannah followed right after, giggling nervously. "Yeah… We're no match for you, Yoora. No need to embarrass ourselves."
Minseok scratched his cheek, trying not to laugh. "Looks like you've secured your top 1 position already."
Yoora shrugged. "Well, that was fast."
Nayoung, still sitting with a small pout, looked around at them. "Hey! That's unfair! You should fight her! Don't just give up just because she obviously wins!"
Hannah looked at her with a gentle smile. "Nayoung, it's not about giving up. It's just… sometimes, you already know the result. Why still fight when it's clear who'll win?"
Minseok nodded in agreement. "Yeah. And you can't just rush to fight someone stronger without preparing. You need to understand your opponent's strength first. Going in blind is just asking to lose fast."
Nayoung lowered her head slightly, her expression turning thoughtful. "But… how will you improve then, guys?"
Everyone went a little quiet.
She continued, "If you're always waiting to be ready, you'll never test yourself. I may have lost… but I learned something. I got closer to Yoora's level just by fighting her once."
Jinhyu leaned back on his hands, thinking. "You're not wrong… But sometimes it's smart to watch and learn first."
"But I already did that," Nayoung pointed out. "And then I went in. I didn't expect to win. I just wanted to see if I could keep up even a little."
Yoora glanced at her, smiling slightly. "That mindset? That's how people get stronger."
Seojun, standing with his arms crossed, finally spoke. "There's no right or wrong answer here. Strategy and experience both matter. But fear of losing should never stop you from stepping forward."
Hannah looked down. "I guess I've been too careful…"
Minseok tilted his head. "Maybe we should try. Even just a few exchanges."
Jinhyu rubbed his neck. "Hah… fine. I'll fight Yoora. But just don't expect anything flashy from me."
Nayoung's pout turned into a grin. "That's more like it!"
Yoora raised an eyebrow. "Two in one day? I might start getting spoiled."
Seojun nodded slightly. "Rest for five minutes, then we begin again."
The group relaxed for a bit, but the atmosphere had changed. Nayoung's words stuck in their minds.
Even if it looked like defeat, taking the challenge was part of growing.
Minseok stretched his arms slowly, eyes on Yoora.
Five minutes later, the sparring continued.
Yoora stood in the middle of the training circle again, stretching her arms. One by one, Jinhyu, Minseok, and even Hannah stepped in to challenge her.
Jinhyu tried to fight smart, aiming for counterattacks. He managed to dodge a few of Yoora's quick strikes, but after a few minutes, the pressure became too much. A single sweep to his legs and a light push sent him tumbling down.
Minseok followed next, copying some of the movements he had seen from the others. He even managed to feint a strike and make Yoora blink in surprise—but her reflexes were too sharp. She gently tapped his shoulder and he lost his balance, falling outside the circle.
Hannah, though nervous, gave it her all. She stayed light on her feet, moving around quickly, but she couldn't land a hit. In the end, Yoora only used one solid sidestep and a soft palm on her back to make her stumble forward and sit down, dizzy.
One by one, they all lay on the ground, arms spread wide, catching their breath. Sweaty, tired, and clearly defeated.
Yoora, barely even panting, stood over them like a calm mountain that didn't move an inch.
That was when Nayoung burst out laughing.
"Pfft—Hahaha!" she pointed at them dramatically, standing with hands on her hips. "Look at you guys! One, two, three—down! Flattened like pancakes!"
Minseok groaned, turning his head toward her. "You're not helping, Nayoung…"
"Hey, I tried too, remember?" Nayoung grinned, still proud. "At least I got a hit in."
"You also got thrown on your back," Jinhyu muttered, covering his eyes with his arm.
Yoora chuckled and walked toward them. "I gotta admit… you all did better than I expected. Especially Minseok."
"Huh?" Minseok blinked, surprised.
"You tricked me once," Yoora smiled. "Not bad."
Nayoung puffed out her cheeks. "Told you guys fighting her is better than just watching."
Seojun nodded. "Rest for now. Tomorrow, we'll raise the difficulty again."
Everyone groaned at once.
Nayoung flopped onto the ground dramatically. "Raise it again? I'm gonna die here…"
Minseok laughed softly. "You were the one asking to fight…"
Jinhyu wiped sweat from his forehead. "At this rate, Yoora's going to become a legend."
Yoora just smiled, tilting her head. "Then I expect a proper title."
They all laughed, lying there on the ethereal ground as the sky above slowly changed color, signaling the end of the training day.
