Chapter 99 -97 Array Breaking Studies

“Hmph!” Muria’s face turned sour. He had long known that the Crystal Castle was always protected by a complex Legendary Array, a defense against the Legend itself. He could spend hundreds more years trying to break through it with sheer force to get the Legendary Metal.

“Master Muria, without Archmage Atris’ consent, no one can touch anything here.”

Muria cast a glance at the blonde maid floating beside him, feeling even worse. He turned and headed for the treasury’s exit. With no hope of retrieving his Legendary Metal, there was no point in him staying and tormenting himself any longer.

Just as Muria reached the castle door and was about to leave, a faint spirit light flickered in his golden pupils, causing him to freeze midway through stepping out.

“If I leave without doing anything, this trip would have been a waste. I can’t afford to squander time like this,” muttered Muria in a random thought, “I should go to the library and get some books. That way, this trip won’t be pointless.”

The moment this thought appeared, Muria turned around and began walking towards the library. This caused the maid Sophia, who was following him, to become somewhat surprised: “Master Muria, weren’t you planning to leave?”

“Sophia, I’m going to the library to get some books before I leave.”

“Do you need me to send some maids to assist you?”

“No, there’s no need.” Muria waved his hand, “I can manage on my own. You don’t need to follow me either; I’ll just grab a few books from the library.”

“Well, I’ll leave you to it then.” The blonde Dragonborn maid watched Muria slowly leave through the corridor lined with precious treasures, a faint smile graced her face.

“You were leaving, weren’t you, Muria?” asked Renata, who sat on Muria’s shoulder, looking confused.

“I just thought I’d grab a few books.” Muria forced a smile at the loli form of Renata.

“Oh.” Renata obediently responded, happiness spreading across her face at Muria’s forced smile. She knew Muria was feeling horrible due to the value of the Legendary Metal. But still, he was willing to muster a smile for her sake.

In the vast and deserted library, rows of bookshelves radiating a pleasant sandalwood aroma stood neatly in place, extending as far as Muria could see. Each shelf was stuffed full of books. The number of books in this library could pile up into a mountain—a picturesque book mountain.

The distance between the bookshelves wouldn’t permit Muria in his massive thirty-plus meters tall Titan Form to pass through. Therefore, he cast a spell, reverting to his youthful looks and sauntered through the rows with Renata, who had taken the form of a young girl.

For some reason, the moment he entered the library, Muria had a feeling that somewhere within the library was a book he was in need of.

Guided by this inexplicable feeling, Muria navigated through the shelves. Finally, he and Renata hovered next to a shelf full of books no different from the others. He felt very strongly that on this shelf was a book significantly important to him.

“It seems I’ve found something incredible.” Muria set his gaze on a book with a black cover and golden edges. The title, written in Dragon Language, filled Muria with a sense of satisfaction. “Breaking Array Studies.”

“What is this book about?” With anticipation and excitement, Muria collected the thick book from its shelf and skipped to the author’s note on the first page.

“No magic array is perfect, all have their weak spots. Spot the weakness, and the array can be destroyed with the slightest of forces.”

“Destroy an array with the minimum amount of force.” Muria muttered these words, eyes squinting. Thinking about the Legendary Defensive Array protecting this castle, a wild thought arose within him. If he could break the defensive array shielding the castle, then the treasury would…

According to what Muria had learned about array formation studies, the Defensive Array protecting the castle was near perfect. Virtually invulnerable with no weaknesses or loopholes.

However, he agreed with the note in “Breaking Array Studies.” Nothing in this world was absolutely perfect, including arrays. Perfection is just a result of insufficient knowledge.

“What can I learn from this book?” Expectant and curious, Muria flipped to the second page of the book. On the plain white page, a basic six-pointed star array was slowly glowing with magical spirit light.

“The most basic array.” Disappointment washed over Muria. He frowned and attempted to flip to the next page, only to find he was unable to turn any page at all.

“Interesting!” The sight brought a grin to the face of Muria, who had transformed back to his youthful form. Even in human form, with half of his Titan power suppressed, his strength was still monstrous. He found it amusing that such power couldn’t even flip a page of paper.
