Chapter 49: Because I Know You Too Well

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Because I Know You Too Well

As the words fell, she reached out to push open the studio door.

The afternoon sun carried a touch of greed-inducing warmth, shining on Munni’s jade-like smooth face. She curved her lips, feeling quite good, and then heard Yisen, who was following her, reply, "It’s a coincidence."

Munni stopped in her tracks, quickly turned around to face Yisen, and rolled her eyes disdainfully at his unconvincing answer. She then directly asked her doubt, "How did you know I would choose Lu Lin Yuan to design?"

From the tone of voice Lu Lin Yuan used earlier, he had already visited the restaurant a couple of days ago, while she had only made an appointment with him this morning.

Evidently, Yisen had determined that she would choose Lu Lin Yuan from among the various designers he provided.

Yisen looked at Munni, whose delicate almond eyes held a slightly lazy charm. Her every frown and smile exuded a captivating brilliance.

He nodded, replying seemingly nonchalantly, "Hmm, because I know you too well."

Munni twisted her mouth disdainfully, "Tch." She took it as him just bluffing her.

Kidding, three years of marriage, and the man only pretended to be affectionate with her in front of others, while in private, he was as cold as a glacier.

How could such a man spend time getting to know her?

Her disdainful expression inexplicably amused Yisen a little, and he once again invited, "Want to grab dinner together?"

Munni tucked her hands into her coat pockets and elegantly stepped ahead of Yisen, "No, I have plans."

Yisen slightly quickened his pace, effortlessly catching up with Munni, walking side by side with her.

"Isn’t this the best time to celebrate over a drink with your partner?"

Munni glanced askance at the man beside her, who was spouting nonsense with a straight face, "There’s nothing to celebrate before the drawings are ready. Besides, I’m meeting the neighbor—we need to cultivate good neighborly relations."

Yisen’s attention was entirely on the latter half of her sentence, and his eyebrows raised slightly, fully assuming that Munni was meeting with the elderly couple living next door on her floor.

"Mr. Wang and Mrs. Wang? Haven’t seen them for a while."

"No, it’s my Senior."

Her casual words made Yisen’s eyebrows raise even higher, "Did Mr. Wang move out?"

"No, he and Mrs. Wang still live next door to me."

"So, are you planning to move out?"

"Not that either."

"Then how did your Senior become your neighbor?"

With Yisen’s unusually intense curiosity today, Munni glanced at him suspiciously but still explained, "My Senior bought the storefront next to the restaurant and plans to open a café there."

Yisen nodded with feigned composure, "Oh." Inwardly, though, he was vexed; had he known, he would have bought the small building next to the restaurant back then. This certainly benefited Yuan Chengmo.

"Christmas is approaching, do you have any plans?"

"Christmas?" Munni whispered, having almost forgotten that next week was Christmas until Yisen reminded her, "No."

"Want to go to Purple Clouds Mountain for a hot spring?"

As soon as the words fell, he received a curious glance from Munni.

For the past three years, she had been hoping to spend Christmas at Purple Clouds Mountain with Yisen, but he had never kept the promise.

When the night was deep and quiet, she sat alone by the hotel suite window, watching the fireworks bloom outside, opening gifts in solitude, wishing herself a Merry Christmas.
