Chapter 118 - 115: Encounter With Ayato Once Again..

Kanzaki Ryoma arrived at Building 7, his footsteps echoing softly in the dim corridor. From above, the clash of steel and the guttural roars of ghouls reverberated through the structure. Without hesitation, he ascended the stairs, each step bringing him closer to the confrontation.

On the upper floor, Ryoma found a group of CCG investigators engaged in a fierce battle with a masked ghoul. The ghoul's lithe frame and distinctive attire made his identity unmistakable—Kirishima Ayato.

"Ryoma-san!" one of the investigators exclaimed, relief washing over his face at the sight of the renowned operative.

"Withdraw," Ryoma instructed calmly. "Assist Tokage and the others. I'll handle this."

The investigators, aware of Ryoma's recent feat against the One-Eyed Owl, complied without protest, retreating to support their comrades elsewhere.

Ayato's eyes narrowed behind his mask, recognizing the man who had bested him before. He signaled to his fellow ghouls, who began to encircle Ryoma, hoping to overwhelm him with numbers.

"You still haven't learned," Ryoma remarked, his voice devoid of emotion. "Very well. Let's revisit this lesson."

With a swift motion, Ryoma tossed his suitcase—housing his Quinque—into the air. The ghouls' attention momentarily shifted upward, providing Ryoma the opening he needed. He surged forward, engaging them with sheer physical prowess, eschewing his weapon entirely.

The ghouls, mostly B and C-rank remnants left behind during Aogiri Tree's assault on Cochlea, were no match for Ryoma's unarmed combat skills. In mere moments, several were incapacitated, their bodies crashing against walls and floors.

One ghoul was sent flying toward Ayato, who deflected the limp form aside with a kick, the body slamming into the wall with a thud.

As the suitcase landed with a soft thump, only a handful of ghouls remained, their expressions a mix of shock and fear. Witnessing a human dispatch ghouls barehanded was beyond their comprehension.

"Pathetic," Ayato spat, releasing his ukaku kagune in a flurry of feather-like projectiles aimed at Ryoma.

Ryoma sidestepped effortlessly, the kagune shards slicing through the air where he had stood moments before. He continued his assault, systematically dismantling the remaining ghouls with calculated strikes.

With the last of his allies defeated, Ayato found himself alone. Ryoma turned his gaze toward him.

"Your turn," he stated.

Ayato clicked his tongue in frustration. Despite his earlier bravado, he felt a pang of apprehension. Still, he removed his mask and charged.

"Close combat is my specialty!" he declared.

Ryoma met Ayato's onslaught with measured precision. Ayato's attacks, though swift, lacked the refinement to breach Ryoma's defenses. Each strike was anticipated and countered with ease.

Seizing an opening, Ryoma delivered a powerful punch to Ayato's jaw, followed by a knee to the abdomen. Ayato's body crumpled under the force, teeth scattering as he collapsed.

"You're Kirishima Touka's brother," Ryoma said, pinning Ayato to the ground. "Do you think she'd approve of this path you've chosen?"

Ayato struggled, attempting to free himself, but Ryoma's grip was unyielding. With his free hand, Ryoma delivered a punch to Ayato's face, the impact shattering his nose.

"I see. You're trying to protect her, aren't you? That's why you joined Aogiri Tree."

"Shut up!" Ayato snarled, releasing his kagune in a desperate counterattack.

Ryoma stood, dodging the barrage with practiced ease. He remained composed, his voice steady.

"When Tatara and the Bin Brothers appeared, you feared for your sister's safety. Am I wrong?"

Ayato, enraged, intensified his assault, his kagune slicing through the air with renewed fury.

"This ends now," Ryoma declared.

He retrieved his Gunbai, absorbing the incoming kagune projectiles. The weapon, designed to convert absorbed energy into a counterattack, began to hum with power.

"Gunbai Rebound."

A tempestuous gust erupted from the fan, the stored energy unleashed in a devastating wave. Ayato was caught in the maelstrom, his body hurled across the room, crashing into the debris-laden floor.

"You can't even stand, let alone fight," Ryoma observed, his tone devoid of malice.

As Ayato lay battered and bloodied, a new presence emerged. Noro materialized silently, his intent clear.

"Take him," Ryoma said, stepping aside.

Noro approached, retrieving Ayato without a word. Ryoma watched them depart, his expression unreadable.
