Chapter 1190: Guild Leaders on The Run [Part 2]
Villain Ch 1190. Guild Leaders on The Run [Part 2]
The group nodded in unison, turning as one. They took off in a coordinated dash, weaving between the narrow paths of the alley as the group of players called after them.
"Hey! Don't run!"
"Come on, guys, just listen!"
Allen didn't look back, his focus on the escape. They zigzagged through the streets, slipping past stalls and dodging pedestrians. The voices behind them grew fainter, though a few particularly determined players still chased after them, their footsteps echoing against the cobblestone.
Elio ran beside him, dodging an overturned crate. "Not exactly how I pictured today."
Allen cringed, shooting him a glare. "That should be my line."
Elio smirked, clearly enjoying this a little too much. "You shouldn't talk to your savior like that. I just saved you from being a groom."
"Savior?" Allen nearly tripped as he laughed, his face twisting in mock horror. "Now that's a stretch!"
They rounded a corner. Allen glanced at the crowds thinning out behind them, and an odd thought popped into his mind. "Wait… does this happen to the female players, too? I mean, are there male players chasing them around, proposing on one knee, begging them to marry them?"
Red_King, running a few paces behind, shook his head, looking thoroughly amused. "Nah, it's only us guys."
Arcana, sprinting next to him, let out a short laugh. "I even saw them going after Warlord before I met you guys."
Allen blinked, caught off guard. "You mean that Warlord? They're chasing him down?"
Father^Alex, who was trailing slightly behind them with a still-stunned expression, piped up, his voice shaky. "I-I saw them get Justice Bringer, too."
Everyone fell silent, all of them processing that image in their minds. Justice Bringer, the stern, no-nonsense guild leader, being dragged into a "marriage" by a group of relentless female players… it was almost impossible to imagine, and yet… they didn't doubt it.
Elio shook his head, a solemn expression on his face. "My condolences."
Red_King glanced at the ground, sighing. "Poor guy. That must've been brutal."
Allen couldn't help but laugh a little. "I don't get it. How is it that it's only us guys getting hunted down? Not the female players? I thought the guys in this game were supposed to be more brutal!"
Mastercraft, keeping pace with the group, chuckled. "That's the thing. Male players are pretty straightforward. Most of us, we don't care that much. If she's a girl, around the same level, and willing to cooperate on hunts or events, that's good enough. It's a game, after all, not a real marriage." He shrugged. "Well, if she's got decent gear, maybe a good weapon, it will help. But looks? Optional. Standard gear is fine. We're simple-minded. Why complicate things?"
Arcana jumped in, laughing breathlessly. "Meanwhile, the girls… they're treating this like a real marriage. Some of them are on a whole other level of 'qualification checks.' That's why they're chasing us."
Allen exhaled, nodding as the pieces clicked together. "Alright, I get it. You've got a point." He glanced over his shoulder, noting the distance they'd put between themselves and the last group of players. "So, what's the plan now? We can't just keep running all day."
Father^Alex, still looking traumatized, gasped out, "L-let's just… hide out somewhere. Wait till this cools off."
Red_King groaned. "If only it were that easy. The event's going to keep this craziness going for days."
Elio shot Allen a look, a faint grin creeping back onto his face. "What, thinking of braving the market again?"
"After all this? Not a chance." Allen shook his head, glancing around for any secluded spots nearby. "We need somewhere we can lay low for a while." ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Mastercraft laughed, a little too eagerly. "I know just the place—there's a tavern in the northern district. They've got a private room you can rent, and they won't let just anyone come barging in. We could hang out there until this blows over."
Allen raised an eyebrow. "A tavern? You really think the tavern's gonna stop these players from tracking us down?"
Mastercraft shrugged, flashing a mischievous grin. "Hey, it's worth a shot. And if not, at least we'll have drinks while we wait for the mob to disperse."
Elio clapped Allen on the back. "You in? Could be fun."
Allen rolled his eyes, sighing. "Fine, let's go. But if this ends with me forced into a wedding ceremony, I'm blaming all of you."
They exchanged grins and quick nods before taking off again, heading for the northern district. The sounds of the bustling market faded behind them as they darted through side streets and alleyways.
Once they reached the tavern, a quaint, old-looking place tucked between two shops, they hesitated for a moment, catching their breath.
Arcana patted Allen's shoulder, grinning. "See? We made it in one piece."
Father^Alex let out a shaky laugh. "Barely."
They pushed open the door, stepping inside. The warmth and low hum of chatter washed over them, a welcome change from the chaotic market. Mastercraft led the way to the back, where the tavern's private room was. He slid a few coins to the barkeep, who nodded and unlocked the door, letting them inside.
Once they were all in, Allen leaned back against the wall, exhaling. "Alright, we're safe. For now."
Elio slumped into a chair, laughing. "Man, what a day. I don't think I've ever been chased this much in my life."
Red_King chuckled, stretching his arms. "Yeah, it's like we're celebrities or something."
Arcana looked over at Allen, a teasing grin on his face. "Hey, you could still change your mind, you know. Plenty of girls out there who'd love to partner with you."
Allen shot him a glare. "Not a chance. I'd rather log out."
Mastercraft laughed, raising his glass. "To survive the wedding rush. May we all make it through this event in one piece."
They clinked their glasses, sharing a laugh. For now, they were safe, hidden away in the cozy room. But Allen knew that as soon as they left, it would be back to the madness.
Elio leaned back, smirking at Allen. "So, think you'll try the market again tomorrow?"
