Chapter 94 – First Boss Room

Chapter 94: Chapter 94 – First Boss Room

The heavy footsteps of the creature echoed through the vast, empty chamber. The stone walls reverberated with the creaking of bones, and the faint green glow from the giant’s eyes reflected off the floor, casting eerie, flickering shadows that danced with every movement.

[Appraisal]

Name: Giant Skeleton

Race: Undead (Boss)

Element:

Level: 25

Description:

[The Giant Skeleton is a colossal undead entity formed from the remains of ancient warriors or giant creatures of the past. Its bones contain traces of ancient magic, greatly enhancing their physical structure making them nearly impervious to standard slashing attacks. Created to serve as the first guardian of the Cave of the Forgotten, this entity can only be defeated by blunt force, destructive power, or attacks imbued with spiritual energy.

This creature possesses no consciousness of its own but is controlled by ancient commands inscribed within its bone core. Though slow, each of its physical attacks is capable of shattering steel and stone.]

It stood eight meters tall more than twice the height of the gate I had just opened. Its arms were like stone pillars, and each bony finger was as thick as a sword hilt. On its back hung a colossal weapon a double-headed axe forged from aged iron and fused bone, radiating a cursed aura.

I stared at the creature without fear, but I knew one thing for sure this was no opponent to be underestimated.

"I’ll handle this one," I said flatly, then turned around.

"Stay here. Do not interfere."

My three werewolf zombies nodded in unison. Their eyes glowed dimly, showing they had received the command.

I sighed again, an unnecessary reflex and stepped forward. My claws extended automatically, sharp, glossy black talons sliding out from my fingers, glowing faintly in the darkness.

Without another word, I dashed forward.

Speed was my advantage. With one leap, I closed in on the creature’s leg and slashed at its left knee. SKREEEEKK!!

The sharp screech of metal against stone filled the air but to my surprise, the attack didn’t penetrate.

"What...?" I muttered, a bit surprised.

My claws only left a faint white scratch on its bone. In fact, I felt a strange vibration not from its body, but from my own hand. I leapt back, retracting my claws.

"In that case..." I clenched my fist. This time, I tried a raw punch.

BRAKK!!KREEKK!!

The impact was solid. I felt a slight fracture in my own bones from the collision, even though the skeleton’s leg only showed a minor crack. Both were unbelievably hard... but I didn’t make a sound. My body quickly repaired itself the fractured bone healed in seconds, thanks to my high-level regeneration. But now I understood this giant’s bones were far tougher than I had anticipated. Not ordinary bones... perhaps reinforced by necrotic magic, or from some ancient giant creature.

The creature let out a soundless growl. Though it had no vocal cords, its entire body trembled with rage. Its eyes glowed brighter. Then it raised its massive hand and struck downward.

"Vertical strike."

I read its movement quickly and jumped aside.

BOOOOMMMM!!

Its massive fist slammed into the ground with tremendous force. Cracks radiated rapidly from the impact point. Stones shattered, and dust rose like a thick fog. If I hadn’t dodged... I might have been crushed, or at least seriously injured.

I began moving swiftly, dodging a series of slow yet devastating strikes from the creature. Each motion of its arms brought destruction. Walls crumbled, floors cracked, and the sound of small explosions accompanied every blow. Though slow, a single hit would be enough to destroy anything not strong enough.

I thought fast.

’My claws are too sharp, and not effective against something this durable... But what if I use... something blunter?’

I wondered if my chains were strong enough to penetrate it. Then, the chains began to unfurl from beneath the sleeves of my gown. Since evolving to Rank 4: Morteluna, the number of active chains I could control had increased from six to twelve, each now with enhanced structure and destructive power.

An idea struck me.

"...In that case," I whispered.

My hand moved. Magic energy surged from my fingertips into the chains, filling them with power. Then I raised both hands and spoke:

[Chain Technique – Final Form: UNIFICATION]

Six no, all twelve chains gathered together. They twisted and merged, forming a single giant chain as thick as a grown man’s torso. It was not only heavy and sharp, but also corrosive.

I pointed toward the giant skeleton. Without a signal, the massive chain lunged forward like a giant serpent. Its speed was incredible for its size. Its rattling shook the air.

The creature tried to lift its arm but too late.

BRAAAAAKK!!

The chain pierced through the giant skeleton’s skull. Cracks spread like a spiderweb. The green light in its eyes flickered, then began to dim.

Its body lost balance.

One arm collapsed first. Then the shoulders detached. One by one, its bones fell apart, clattering to the floor. The sound of its destruction echoed loudly....

BRAKK!! BRAKK!! BRUKKK!!

Finally, only a pile of bones remained. The deathly fog slowly faded from the room, and the heavy atmosphere began to lift.

I stood in the center of the chamber, gazing at the pile of bones that had once been a powerful creature. My breath was steady. The dark energy coursing through my body still swirled, but I slowly calmed it.

"...Too easy," I muttered, though I knew that if not for my new strength and the fused chain, this battle could’ve been far more troublesome.

Then something shimmered among the bones.

A chest treasure appeared where the giant skeleton had fallen. It was elegant and ancient, made of black wood with silver carvings and a lock plated in white bone. A faint magical aura surrounded it, but it didn’t feel dangerous.

I stepped forward slowly, approaching the chest.

My heart, long silent, seemed to throb in the stillness. Though I knew this was merely part of the dungeon... something about this chest stirred a faint sense of curiosity within me.

My hand reached for the lid.

And I opened it.
