Chapter 54: She’s Injured badly

Chapter 54: She’s Injured badly

AMBROSE’S POV:

I needed to get her and the girl to safety, but when I’d got close enough to touch her, she’d growl, and her eyes would flicker between the glowing blood red and white. The only thing keeping her from abilities in check was the collar. That thin piece of metal was all that protected me from whatever she was capable of right now.

Wherever her mind was, it wasn’t in a place that could recognize me.

Blood was oozing from the wounds on her back, where the arrows struck her.

Even covered in blood, with her hair all disheveled, and the shadow of death clinging to her like a lifeline.

She looked magnificent. The longer I looked the faster my heartbeat.

I can’t wait much longer; I have to find a way to reach her and bring her back. She needs a healer. Her skin was paling, he clothing soaked, the smell of her blood was intoxicating, she was losing too much.

Maybe I should try the little girl, "Little girl, what’s your name?"

She met me with silence and then said, "I’m not supposed do talk do strangers." The little girls trembled, but she spoke with a fierce confidence that was quite surprising.

"Then I’ll introduce myself, first. I am Alpha King Ambrose, and the woman who is covering you, she’s important and I need to get her help, she’s hurt very badly. Can you help me miss..." Leaving the ending open, hoping she takes the bait and gives me her name.

She was silent for a second and then said, "Genevive, sir. Are you really the alpha king?"

She sounded suspicious. Smart. Don’t trust anyone.

"Yes, now I need you to help me, and I promise to give you a special treat. Now the girl wrapped around you, her name is Princess Odette. Try telling her you’re okay."

I could feel the shift in her energy at the sound of her name, but it wasn’t negative, it was almost excited and curious.

The little girl looked closer at the woman that hovered over her, seeing through the blood that coated her hair and face.

"I’m okay, thank you, are you okay? Are you thirsty?" The little girl named Genevive asked her quietly.

But Odette didn’t move, she still couldn’t hear the girl.

"Try touching her." The girl could easily do what I couldn’t. She wouldn’t let me close to her.

The little girl reached above her, just barely reaching Odette’s head and started rubbing it slowly. "There, there, I’m okay. I’m okay."

I saw the shift in Odette instantly. Her shoulders relaxed, her claws retracted. She didn’t release the girl just yet, but her body relaxed, and her eyes returned to their usual crimson color.

She blinked a few times and then took a deep breath in. Releasing the girl.

And I guess the movement remaindered her of her injury, because the minute she sat up, and let out a ragged scream, before falling over rendering herself unconscious.

"Shit." I muttered.

Her heartbeat had slowed, she’s lost too much blood, she was fading.

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.

I scooped her up and ran. "Go to the pack house little girl, I will come and check on you later, I have to get her out of here."

The little girl nodded, she had a slight limp, but it looked like she’d be okay, Odette took the worst of it.

I ran as fast as I could crossing the camp in minutes.

I burst through the pack’s door, "I need a healer right now."

The woman in the back stopped what she was doing and rushed over to me, "I’m available, your highness."

"Save her, save her now!" "If you don’t save her, I’ll have your head." My wolf spoke through me, giving my voice a threatening and intimating echo.

I watched the girl tremble. I could see the fear written on her face, but I didn’t care, Onyx was right, if something happened to her, I don’t know what I’d do.

"Stop standing their follow me to our room. Now." My demand came out sharp and harsh.

"I have all my tools he..."

She started to say but I interrupted her, "Then get them and move. She’s lost way too much blood."

"Yes, my King." The woman stuttered the woman moved with speed I hadn’t anticipated, gathering up supplies to bandage her. Healers could work wonders, but they could only do so much, depending on the severity, medicine had to do the rest of the work.

We both ran upstairs, I sent Damon a message in the channel.

"I found Odette, she’s badly injured, you’re in charge, manage pack business for now, I’m busy and I’m not to be disturbed."

"Understood, Alpha, Is she... okay?" Damon asked.

"She better be, because she doesn’t have a choice."

"Please update me if anything changes, I like the princess, she’s not as bad as you think. I see why you’re so interested in her." Damon claimed in the channel

I growled in the chat, didn’t like him taking interest in her. "Watch yourself, Damon, tread lightly."

"Yes, my Alpha." Damon responded, I could hear the smile tugging at his lips through the link.

Getting to the room, I lay her down on the bed.

"Why isn’t she healing? She’s a vampire, silver arrows shouldn’t affect her." I asked, even with the arrows in still, her blood should have clotted by now.

"I don’t know, your majesty, but I’m determined to find out. Not just for her sake or because of your command but also because I have never seen a vampire unable to heal itself." The healer spoke deliberately, and she didn’t dance around her words.

I liked that.

She took out a jar and a needle, and a growl slipped from my lips.

Onyx’s growl.

"I’m going to inject her with Lidocaine to numb the area around the arrow, to help with the pain of the removal." She informed me, a little frightened by Onyx’s warning growl.

The healer gently pushed the needle into the torn flesh.

Odette didn’t move. She laid perfectly still.

The nurse did it in the two other wounds. Odette didn’t even flinch she was completely unconscious; it was terrifying me. My heart hasn’t slowed down since the moment I found her missing.

When the healer removed the arrows, more blooded pooled from the wounds.

"I have to remove her shirt; I need to see her other wounds." She glared at me, like I was expected to look away.

She was mine to protect, I wouldn’t looking away, not for a second. If something happened, I needed to see it.

"I will not look away, remove her clothes, I will cover her chest with the sheet." I could tell she was uncomfortable letting me be around her while she was unconscious and unclothed.

"Fine." She muttered. Cutting away the fabric of Odette’s shit, a horrifying display of slashes, blood, and bruising. He back look tore up. Blood seeped for her other shoulder.

Four arrows? She was struck by four arrows in her back? Her strength and grit were insane. Who’d think a princess would have such intense endurance.

The healer tried held her hands over her wounds, they started to glow, she was trying to stop the bleeding, but something was wrong.

The blood wasn’t clotting.

"She needs blood, can you feed her your blood? She’s a vampire. That could help. My powers aren’t working, I’d have to use mortal means to try and stop the blood, but at this point, she’d need a transfusion." She asked, concern in her eyes. Concern for a vampire.

"She doesn’t drink blood." I answered.

"What? A vampire that doesn’t drink blood?" She lifted her eyebrow confused. She had moved to put pressure on the wounds.

And still she hadn’t moved, she looked lifeless laying on the bed. My heart, it ached profusely. It ached like I’ve never felt before. I wanted to rip my own heart out, the pain was so much, it was choking me.

"She’s a warm blooded, did you not notice?"

"I thought she was mixed, I didn’t know." She confessed. She ready herself for an insult or a hit, one that would never come.

"She’s an energy vampire; she feeds on someone’s life force. Not someone’s blood." I informed her of a truth, not everyone knows "Keep your mouth shut and don’t breathe a word of it to anyone. She’s the Vampire Princess, she’s like her mother, not her father."

The mention of the monster only put a fire in my stomach; one I didn’t have the time or mental space to entertain. Right now, Odette needed all of my attention.

Give her our energy.

How? How do I do that while she’s unconscious, please inform me.

I’ll show you.

Onyx took control of my body and climbed into the bed next to her.

"Hey, what are you doing?" She snapped at me, her king.

Well. at least she takes her job seriously, and the ’no special treatment’ thing is cool too.

"Don’t question me girl, I am your king." Onyx snarled through me.

She shut her mouth quickly, but she kept her fist clenched.

I admire her bravery. It’s borderline foolish.

Onyx laid us down next to her.

What are you doing?

I don’t know, I’m following the pull.

What does that even mean?

Let’s find out.

The pull drew us near her face, and I thought it was going to drag my lips to hers, he leaned into her forehead, pressing it against hers.

Instantly, I felt it too, the pull, she was drawing me in.

And I let her.

I felt her shift. Her body temperature started to rise. Her breathing once shallow now steadied out.

Her body was reacting to me, to us. It was Onyx that somehow knew what to do. He let instinct guide him, and it didn’t let us down.

"I’ll be back, the color seems to have returned to her skin now, and the bleeding has slowed. I need to get some medicine made up for her. Keep doing whatever it is you’re doing, your majesty, it’s working."

She said and she turned and left.

We laid like this for a while, Onyx had subsided, letting me have control again.

When she started to stir, I was bracing myself for a reaction similar to that of the one earlier when she was holding on to the little girl.

But I wasn’t prepared for what happened.
