Chapter 597 - 595: SENDING THE TWINS
The next day, Diamond sat at the dining table with Precious and Patience. Her parents and Garnet were no longer at home.
Despite being a Saturday, everyone had to go to work, and as for her, she needed to take the twins to the airport. It was time for them to return to Strawford City.
"Sis, we will miss you."
"Um. Will you come over another time?"
Diamond looked at the girls, who were looking at her with anticipatory gazes and couldn’t help but soften.
"I will see when there is free time. I will drop by and visit," she responded.
It didn’t hurt to travel a bit. Besides, she has a business over there. Checking it once in a while wouldn’t harm her.
Upon hearing that, the twins were ecstatic and started talking about different things.
After breakfast, they all went to their separate rooms to change. There were still five hours before the twins’ flight, so time was ample.
While looking for a casual outfit to wear for the trip, she received an unexpected call. When she heard who the caller was, her eyes couldn’t help but light up as she recalled something that she had forgotten momentarily due to the busy schedule.
"Hello, Auntie Grace!" she answered beamingly as her hands continued to rummage through the clothes.
[Dee, how are you?]
"I am doing well and yourself?"
[All is well. I just called to tell you that Gael’s gift will be arriving today. And I am planning to come over to Frin on the 20th. Will you be available?]
Now that was unexpected. Diamond’s movements froze for a moment. She wasn’t expecting for the lady to bring over the gift. Wouldn’t it suffice to just send it by courier?
However, hearing the anticipation in the other’s voice, Diamond couldn’t let her down, so after a short while, she answered, "I will make time for you. Are you sure that you won’t be bored when you come over?" and asked worriedly at the end.
She might have an affinity with the elders, but accompanying them all the time wasn’t something that she could do. There was so much pending work that needed to be overseen. And entertaining Gael’s mother at this point wouldn’t be ideal.
[You don’t have to push yourself. Besides, aren’t your parents there? We are of the same age. We will manage,] Aunt Grace responded astounding Diamond who hadn’t thought that far.
Indeed, her parents were there and with them there, it means that she wouldn’t need to entertain her possible mother-in-law.
By letting her parents entertain Aunty Grace, they might observe the other and see if their families might get along well. In case she ends up with Gael in the future, which for now, didn’t seem to be the case.
Diamond didn’t have much to refute to that, so she agreed. She and Aunty Grace talked for a while before the call ended.
Diamond didn’t overthink much about the matter, but resumed with her picking. In the end, she picked a loose A-line floral print dress and wore a pair of sandals.
She picked a nice bag to go with the outfit, and wore the jewelry set her parents gifted her. She checked herself through the mirror repeatedly and, seeing that she looked good and that her name on the pendant was visible; she felt happy.
Remembering that she was supposed to upload something on her SNSs, she took out her drone and had Andrea take shots. Some of them in the closet and some of them in her bedroom.
Since she had already exposed these two places, she decided to just continue.
With the several photos taken, she picked a few of them, which looked better, and posted them with a good morning caption.
After doing so, she didn’t bother to check her phone again.
Diamond joined the twins ten minutes later, and the girls were all ready to depart.
Since she was bringing the girls, who had added two more bags during their short stay, she opted for a bigger car.
And among the bigger cars that she owned, she ended up picking up the PIA. It’s been a while since she drove the electric car.
On the way to the airport, the girls, being chatty as always, never shut their mouths.
"Don’t forget to give Portia her portion," she couldn’t help but remind the girls, hearing how they have been saying teasing things about the other.
Precious rolled her eyes at the mentioning of that name.
"Umph. If she wants this, then let her come!"
Diamond snorted as she looked at these shameless girls and retorted, "it’s not like she didn’t want to come. If you don’t give it to her, then next time I come. I will only bring hers and none of your portions. What about it?"
The twins, when they heard that, deflated, making Diamond chuckle in triumph.
The rest of the trip, the girls didn’t cause any trouble again, however; they were all harmonious.
When they arrived at the airport, Diamond, who didn’t plan on causing any ruckus on this day, wore a mask before she alighted from the car.
She and the girls entered the airport and she let the girls finish check-in by themselves.
As she waited, Diamond found a nearby café to rest in.
With her phone in hand and a cup of watermelon juice on the side, she looked very peaceful.
And those who were stealing peeks on her couldn’t help but wonder where they had seen her before, despite half of her face covered like that.
While waiting for the twins, her phone suddenly rang. Since she was holding her phone, she saw the caller ID directly. It was a landline and one that she didn’t know.
{Mother, it’s from the airline in charge of bringing your shipment over!} Andrea’s voice sounded in her ears, making her eyes shine with interest.
Without hesitation, she answered the call straight away.
"Hello."
[Hello, is this Ms. Diamond Perry?]
"Um. This is me. How can I help you?" she asked politely, despite knowing why they were calling.
[I am from Freight Forwarder internal. I am calling to inform you that your shipment had arrived. Is it possible for you to stop by the airport and sign a few documents?]
When she heard that, her lips curled upward.
Thankfully, this call had been made when she was here. If she had left, she would be furious.
"Sure. I will drop by your place in a while. I am at the airport right now," she readily agreed.
The agent on the other side was very happy to hear that. He hurriedly informed her of the place where they would be meeting before the call ended on a good note.
